How did people get to the resorts in napa?

Before the late 1860s when the railroad came to Napa, resort guests came from San Francisco and Sacramento by steamer, then took stage coaches up the Valley where they connected with stages that serviced the resorts. The trip took one to two days. With the arrival of the railroad, resort guests began taking the ferry boat to Vallejo where they connected to the train. Stage services transported visitors from the depots to the resorts. Resorts in Pope Valley and around Berryessa used the stage service coming in from the east in Sacramento Valley. Finally, the automobile made it possible for guests to drive directly to the resorts.
