Peter Joseph“Joe”Callizow as an amateur historian and wildlife enthusiast of PopeValley and Napa County.The collection consists of the notes, research materials, and personal papers of Joe Callizo and research notes given to him by Curabitur blandit mollis lacus. Etiam iaculis nunc ac metus.Robert Smith, a contemporary amateur historian. It includes many genealogies of PopeValley andNapa County as well as histories of the region.

Biography / History

Biographical / Historical Note

Peter Joseph“Joe”Callizo was born May 25, 1937 in St. Helenaand lived most of his life in Pope Valley.He received a BA from UC Berkeley and served the US Army as a dog trainer, before returning to Pope Valley. Callizo was a well-known local botanist, serving on the board of the Land Trust of Napa County and caretaking at the Wantrup Preserve for over 20 years. Callizo wrote articles for the Pope Valley News on matters oflocal genealogies and history.He died in 2011, at the age of 74.RobertR. ‚Bob’Smith, 1922-2002, served in the Navy during WWII and was a soil engineer in Oakland for over 20 years.He retired to Napa where he began studying and collecting the history and genealogies of the region.
