The Napa Chapter of the American Red Cross was founded in 1917 and was consolidated into the California Northwest chapter of the Northern California Coastal Region in October, 2014. The chapter has been also known as the Napa/Silverado Chapter, the Silverado Chapter, and the St. Helena Chapter at various times in the almost hundred years of its existence. The chapter supplied aid in response to local disasters, floods, earthquakes and fires, as well as national disasters, 9/11, and both world wars. The chapter also taught local residents CPR and swimming.
