“The Gift of Photography in Capturing History and Personal Experiences” with Janna Waldinger

Join Janna Waldinger for a virtual presentation: The gift of photography in capturing history and personal experiences. Janna is a third-generation photographer and co-owner with Lowell Downey of Art & Clarity fine photography based in Napa since 1994.

“I had the good fortune to work side by side with my father at a very young age learning the art and craft of photography. In elementary school I started with a Kodak Instamatic for my personal documenting of friends and parties. In middle school I graduated to a double lens format camera, while working with my father who utilized a Hasselblad medium format and large format Toyo-View 4×5 camera.”

Fundamentally, powerful photography is created by working with the science of light, composition, and perspective. The summer of 1999 Janna transitioned to the professional digital format, which has opened massive creative options as well as the advantage of immediate feedback for the images captured. Janna will discuss and share images followed by Q and A.

Janna and Lowell also teach photography and take folks on excursions to learn “The Art of Seeing” and how to shoot like a pro! Go to www.ArtClarity.com to learn more about their creative services. Since 2001 they have photographed the majority of covers for Napa Valley Life Magazine. Serving individuals and businesses, their clients include Queen of the Valley Medical Center, NEWS, Napa Valley College, Visit Napa Valley, Napa Chamber of Commerce, and multiple businesses throughout the Bay Area telling the story of Napa Valley and beyond. This award winning team is innovative, professional, dependable experts providing long lasting value and capturing their clients’ most precious moments with emotional impact. They were recently featured in the New York Times  “10 Tours to Turn Tourists Into Photographers”, as one of only three photography tours recommended in the United States.

This presentation will be hosted via Zoom. Tickets are $10 for NCHS members and $20 for non-members. Ticket sales will remain open until two hours before the event. Virtual ticket will be available as a download with a Zoom link upon reaching the order confirmation page. This Zoom link will also be emailed to all participants prior to the event.
