A City of Immigrants: An American Story – Exhibit On-View

October 13, 2023 @ 10:00 am - March 30, 2024 @ 5:00 pm

Our Fall 2023 Exhibit, A City of Immigrants: An American Story explores the many waves of immigration into the valley over a hundred years, from 1820 to 1920.
The waves of immigration over the centuries created a rich tapestry of ethnicities and cultural blending.
Every ethnicity has left its stamp on the Valley whether or not it is immediately discernible. When we look around, we see the imprints of immigrants archaeologically and visually, as well as in words, names, and esthetics. A City of Immigrants highlights the impact each group had on the valley building a more nuanced history that celebrates diversity.
Featuring historic photography from the Napa County Historical Society and St. Helena Historical Society collections, as well as four cases of historic objects with importance to the themes of Religion, Organizations, Cuisine, Skills, and Technology, A City of Immigrants is a look at the story of Napa County through the eyes of its diverse people.
The exhibit is in the Napa County Historical Society exhibit hall at 1219 First Street, Napa, free, and open to the public five days a week, Tuesday-Thursday, 10-3, and Friday & Saturday 10-5. Exhibit runs through March 30th, 2024.
