From Taoist temples to Catholic Churches, Napa Valley immigrants brought with them their own religious practices. In the first two decade of historic mass immigrant, traveling circuit ministers tended to the spiritual needs of Napa’s congregations performing services wherever they could. In the 1850s with the growing population, congregations raised the funding to build churches, synagogues and temples with their own clergies. By the 1880s Napa Valley religious centers served Baptists, Catholics, Episcopalians, Jews, Lutherans, Methodists, Presbyterians and Taoists.
