“News, the Story of Our Lives” Exhibit Open

On Monday August 10th in 1863, The Napa Daily Register published its first issue. One hundred and fifty-nine years later the local paper is still capturing community news and bringing it into people’s homes. Stories, events, editorials, advertisements, and sports have filled the printed pages and now digital frames for decades chronicling life in the Napa Valley. This exhibit explores how newspapers like the Napa Valley Register brought news to Napa residents and reported on the people and events of the Valley over their illustrative careers.

News, the Story of Our Lives is free and open to the public five days a week. Featuring tools of the trade loaned by the Napa Register and community members, full newspaper front pages courtesy of the Napa County Library’s newspaper database and the California State Library’s history room, and photographs of Napa Register employees at work, this exhibit is a must-see for those interested in the history of journalism in the Napa Valley.
