We're getting ready and looking ahead to our next exhibit, A City of Immigrants: An American Story. Throughout Napa's history, waves of immigration changed the landscape of the Valley and influenced the industries and cultures of today. The exhibit will open to the public on Friday, October 13th, and a premiere for NCHS Members will be held on the evening of October 12th, a special first look at this exciting exhibit. Napa County's display booth at the California State Fair in Sacramento, circa 1900. This photograph showcases bottles of Aetna Springs mineral water (suggested as a cure for dyspepsia,) squash, and fruits. San Francisco photographer duo Turrill & Miller photographed the grounds of the Laverne residence, sometime in the early 1900s. The property is identified as being part of the Silverado Country Club. The roof and porch of the house can barely be seen behind the palms and other trees. Turrill & Miller photographed several of the resorts and Victorian residences in the Napa Valley, as well as other scenic California landscapes. #oldphotos #napahistory #silveradocountryclub #photography #landscapes
