Henry Haus Blacksmith Shop
Saturday, April 16
The Henry Haus Blacksmith and Wagonmaker Shop is a unique reminder of the days when every community was dependent upon local craft. It is one of the few remaining in Napa County in an unadulterated condition and at its original location – over a creek. Born in Switzerland, Haus came to Pope Valley in 1889 at sixteen. In 1984 Herman H. Haus, a son of Henry, donated the property to Napa County Historical Society.
Sculptural metalsmith Jerry Coe will give demonstrations of traditional blacksmithing methods using the tools in the Haus shop.
This is part of an all-day event that runs from 11am to 4pm. There are no scheduled tour times. Picnic lunches are available for an additional price, or you may bring your own lunch. Guests can picnic at any of the participating Pope Valley sites.
